Keeping Kitty Away From...

Keeping Kitty Away From Your Herbs!

Cats can certainly get into things, a lot of things-

and one of those things is your plants, especially potted
herb plants.

If this is happening in your household and you want a
natural solution to deter him (or her) just head to
the supermarket or drugstore and pick up some
Vick's Vapor Rub.

Yes, the same stuff Mom or Grandma used to rub on
your chest to help alleviate and end a cold.
Rub some on the sides of the pots.
The strong menthol smell is overwhelming to
your cat's nose and she or he will leave the potted  plants alone.

And lastly, you may have to smear on a little more
in a week or two as the vapor rub will certainly wear off
and feel free to use vapor rub on some other things you
don't want your cat to get into.
Or use fresh peels from lemons and

oranges or black pepper.

Good Luck!

One last request, if you would take a look at our new venture-
printing helpful dog and cat tips on recycled bags, we'd certainly
appreciate it.
A small percentage goes to our pet project-
(no pun intended) to help animal shelters buy
dog and cat food...

Bathing Dogs In The Winter Tip!

                          Giving Fido a Bath!

If your dog  is like most dogs, the bathtub is the last place he or she wants to be.

So, how do you fix this?
Place some peanut butter on the side (at the top) of the tub.

Leave it there and let Fido or Fifi have at it.
They'll be so attracted and distracted, they won't pay any attention to
the water and the soap.
And for those who are wondering, won't a toy also work?

We're not sure, but if you're opposed to this food trick, try
their favorite toy.

Fun Rx For Restless Cats!

Make This Toy For Your Cat!

If you think Cabin fever only affects humans, you're sadly mistaken.
It can also affect our furry, four-legged friends.
And if you own a cat (or two) and want him, her or them to attack something
other than your shoes, curtains and plants, do this...

What is it?
Make a "hunting box!"

To make--take an old shipping box and tape the ends shut.
Next, grab a soup can and trace 2 or 3 rows of holes on one side,
then make 2 smaller holes on the short sides of the box.
Using a craft knife, carefully cut out the holes.
Pop a few treats, (like--a ball of yarn, a small ball, a catnip toy
and some other toys) into the box and place it in front of your cat.
Sit back and be entertained. Your cat (s) will entertain themselves
and leave your shoes, plants, birds, fish and curtains alone.

Good Luck!

Homemade Cat Toys!

                       Drink Wine-Save That Cork!

Ladies, (and gentlemen) are you sick of paying for cat toys?
Do your cats play with them and then lose interest?
Well, how making your own cat toys?
That's right- and all that's required is the cork from that
bottle of wine you just finished, some catnip and some string.

To make:
Get a screwdriver and punch a hole in the top of the cork,
stuff some catnip into the hole, and then tie it to a doorknob
or you can wave it (the string and the cork) back and forth
yourself.
This simple and inexpensive toy will give your feline friend (s)
hours of fun.

And one more thing- if he or she loses this toy, just go ahead
and make another one.

That's it- Saving money anyway we can in this tough economy.
Enjoy!

Good Luck!
