Pet Rxs Just For Seniors!

                      Senior Citizens and Pets!
Senior citizens who care for a pet benefit greatly-health-wise.
Benefits like lower blood pressure, less lonliness, less risk
of getting a cold and stronger immunity.

Now for the downside: Increased Chances For A Fall!
That's right- according to new research, of the more than 90,000

falls treated last yr. about 3/4 of them involved a pet.
Your Mom gets up in the middle of night and doesn't see her cat,
Dad runs in from outside to take a call, and his dog runs with him
thinking it's play time and voila- he falls.
And one of the biggest hazards: A sleeping Pet!
Since they're silent and motionless, Mom, Dad,
or Auntie may not see them underfoot.

So, what do you do to help lower these numbers? A few things like...
a) Set up a pet bed away from high-traffic areas.
b) Place a bell around his or her neck (the pet's) to let your elderly
family member know where they are at all times.
c) Or send your dog to obedience school and train him or her
to walk alongside (and not under) their owner.
And sorry-this won't work on cats. (the obedience tip).

That's it- A few tips for an elderly family member and their pet.

Good Luck!
